About Me

My name is Marge Wiese.  I am a thread and fiber artist.

I am originally from Northeast Illinois. I left the corporate world and moved south when my husband's job relocated us. I now live in Central Florida, USA. I have a background in decorative hobby ceramics and painting. I've been creating crocheted and needle felted collectible Teddy Bears and Bear Friends for six years. My creations range in size from tiny micro bears that are less than 2 inches standing, to small bears that are less than 12 inches standing.

I discovered the world of miniature crocheted Teddy Bears in 2005, and soon after learned that I could create these fascinating little characters myself. I also learned that there is a difference between crocheting bears that are toys, and creating crocheted bears that are artistic creations. I did not want to make toys. The bears and bear friends (other animals) that are artist creations have much attention to the details and shaping that make the artist created bears and bear friends desired by many collectors. They are all tiny unique characters and have wonderful personalities. Creating miniature Teddy Bears and bear friends has become my passion.

A couple of years after I started creating miniature crocheted Teddy Bears, I experimented with needle felting wool sculptures. I fell in love with this wonderful creative art form. It allows me to create whimsical wool sculptures of imaginary characters. I have won several awards for my needle felted sculptures. I also combine some needle felting to create more expression, personality, and accents for some of my crocheted Teddy Bears.

Bear Adoptions

I realized that I could not keep all of my little Teddy Bears, so I started offering some on eBay. This did not work well for me. I went to my first Teddy Bear show at Walt Disney World two years before they discontinued these shows. I met several wonderful friendly bear artists there. They gave me lots of information and encouragement to participate in Teddy Bear shows, not eBay. I participated in my first Teddy Bear show in February 2010. I am now scheduled to participate in several more Teddy Bear shows which are listed on my "Teddy Bear Shows" website page. One of the shows listed is an online Teddy Bear show. No need to leave home.  Just log on, drool, and adopt!

I offer adoption of some of my Teddy Bears and other creations directly from my website. They can be viewed on my "Available for Adoption" website page. Since I don't have a lot of time to spend on the computer, I will update this when time allows. If you would like to be notified when this webpage is updated, please visit my "Contact Me" webpage and send me your contact information.

Examples of some of my adopted bears and other creations can be viewed by selecting my  "Gallery - Bear Den" website page. I do accept special requests and custom orders if they fit into my available time.

My "Fur-Children"

My "Fur Children", all named after animated princesses, are my loving companions. When I decided to offer my bears for adoption I needed to decide on a business name. "Princess4Paws" was a nickname my husband gave to my first boxer fur-child, Jasmine, when she was a tiny puppy just learning how to walk on a leash. At least she was supposed to be walking. When my husband came in after a walk holding little Jasmine curled up in his arms, I asked him what was wrong.  He responded that little "Princess4Paws" just wanted to sit in the grass, not walk, so he carried her. When it came time to select a name for my bear business, her big loving eyes reminded me of her nickname, and I made my decision, "Princess4Paws".

Jasmine, our sweet adoring "Princess4Paws" number one, was a beautiful brindle boxer who loved to swim in our pool. She was very loving and extremely playful. Sadly, in 2008, she was taken from us way too early by cancer. She fought a brave eleven month battle to stay with us, but the day came when her body was unable to fight anymore. Her final day with us was heartbreaking. We knew when she could not eat or drink that morning, without her body rejecting her efforts, her time to leave us had arrived. She held her head high and walked into the specialty animal hospital to say goodbye to the doctors, nurses, and assistants who worked with her illness. They were all fighting back their tears. She left us a paw print and her last sloppy kisses, then went peacefully to sleep. She watches over us from doggie heaven.

Belle, our sweet adoring "Princess4Paws" number two, joined our family as a tiny puppy when Jasmine was one year old. They grew up together and were very close. Belle is a fawn boxer with a black mask. She had a hard time adjusting to life after Jasmine left us. Jasmine was her constant companion for seven years.  Belle loves to swim, retrieve rubber duckies, play with balls, and lay in the sun. She is very attached to me and is easily stressed if I am away from her, even in the next room. We know her time with us is getting shorter.  Belle turned ten years old in January 2011, and has senior doggie health issues.

Ariel, our sweet adoring "Princess4Paws" number three, joined our family as a puppy when Jasmine was nearing the end of her time with us. Ariel looked to Jasmine as her adopted mother. Ariel was older, but still a puppy. Ariel is a flashy brindle boxer. She had many health issue to overcome when she joined our family. Her first summer with us she was afraid of the pool. Much to our surprise, in Spring when the weather warmed up, Ariel flew down the pool stairs and went straight into the water to retrieve the rubber duckies. All fear of water was gone. She lives up to her name as our "Little Mermaid". Ariel is three years old.

Fiona, our sweet adoring "Princess4Paws" number four, joined our family late in 2010 as a very tiny, very sick little puppy. She has overcome the many issues that threatened her health and is now enjoying life, ruling the "big girls" with her rambunctious playfulness. Fiona is a fawn boxer with a black mask, similar to Belle, but she has a white stripe on her forehead and partially around her muzzle. Fiona loves to nibble on her big sisters, and anything else she can find. She is the happiest puppy I have ever known. She just wiggles all over with joy and gives unlimited sloppy kisses. Fiona is still deciding if the pool is a friendly place. For now she enjoys running out of the water and taking the rubber duckies away from the "big girls" after they swim to retrieve them.
